Garner Support For Knock's Medical
Missions
Knock Foundation and Columbia University’s Millennium Cities Initiative (MCI) will be sponsoring a trip of medical professionals to Ethiopia in April 2012. Our team of volunteer doctors will be putting their incredible skills to work in a part of the world where basic medical care is often lacking. In addition, Knock is donating a shipping container full of a wide selection of heath care products and supplies. This will enable Knock to expand its ability to provide care to the various communities it serves in Kenya. After the trip in 2012, Knock plans to continue such medical missions in following years.
Garner Support for Knock's Ongoing School Building Efforts
In April 2011, a team of volunteers traveled to rural western Kenya to help build a primary school. In keeping with our core belief that everyone has the right to an education, the new primary school provides a safe, friendly environment for local children to pursue their dreams for generations to come. After the successful build of this school, Knock plans to continue pairing school-building projects with its future medical missions.
Increase Donations of Medical Equipment, Supplies and Medicines
Knock provides ongoing shipments of a wide selection of heath care products and supplies to varying health care facilities. These supplies enable Knock to expand its ability to provide care to the various communities it serves in Kenya. Knock welcomes both donations of medical equipment for every specialty and health care supplies, including medications, disposable surgical items and other such supplies. Moreover, we will also accept expired supplies as many of the facilities with whom we work readily accept such supplies that are not otherwise used in the United States.
Fill Matumaini Child Care Center to Capacity and Increase Programming
With the completion of the construction of the new Matumaini Child Care Center, Knock now has the responsibility of filling the rooms to capacity with orphaned and vulnerable children who are most in need. In addition, we plan to create programming in 2012 that will welcome the community to the center and provide important and beneficial educational seminars for the people in the surrounding villages.
Initiate School Lunch Programs in Other Primary Schools
Knock's lunch program at Mrupanga Primary School has proven to be extremely beneficial to the students at the school. The students are more alert in class and thus performing better on their schoolwork. In October 2011, Knock initiated a program at Longuo Primary School. Knock plans to continue expanding to more schools throughout the coming years.
Expand Poverty Eradication Piggery Project
Income-generating endeavors are extremely valuable in developing countries. They provide a small level of assistance to those in need, and those people are then able to turn that assistance into an income-generating venture that becomes sustainable for them. Knock Foundation and Matumaini Child Care's Poverty Eradication Piggery Project is one such endeavor that is proving successful. Knock plans to increase the reach of this project by bringing in 20-50 new families.
